Why Babies Cry?

Every parent expects their babies to cry, after all, this is their first form of communication until they are able to develop their communication skills. So why do babies cry?

Babies cry because they need something. These are some of the reason that might help parents to understand their baby’s needs through their crying.

May be they are hungry, in pain, wet or just need attention. This is where new mothers must learn to discern. New parents will learn as time goes by to discern the need of the moment of the baby. The parents learn to differentiate the crying through body language. Now here are some tips to know the reason a baby signals need through body language. And each time the baby cries now you will know what to do.

Hunger is the most common reason why a baby cries. At the very early stage the parents would recognize the cry because of the facial and body language. Mostly the very young babies would show their hunger through opening the mouth towards the breast, or if carried upright would want to direct their mouth to the face of the one carrying them.

Colic pain would also makes your baby cry, not just cry but wail. Parents will know this because even with any form of attention will not stop the baby from crying. The baby would bend its body and no amount of comfort would stop him from crying. He would even cry the whole night. The reason the baby might have colic because it swallowed a lot of air during feeding. It is best for the parents to feed the baby upright and to check the hole of the bottle is right. The parents must learn to observe the frequency of the baby getting colic pain because this might mean something like the possibility of the baby being allergic to the formula milk.

Babies cry when they are wet. Babies do not like when they are wet. If the baby is old enough he usually pulls his diaper leading the parents to know the need of the moment. Parents should also be vigilant on diaper changing habit. Since, negligence in changing the diaper would sometimes lead to a bigger damage like UTI or diaper rash. Diaper rash would make the baby very uncomfortable and would even give him sleepless nights.

Our babies just need attention. They simply need notice, for parents to make sure that the environment is peaceful so their sleep would not be disturbed. The parents must also check the temperature of the room for the baby to be comfortable.

Why My Baby Is Crying?

Babies, as they enter this new world, probably trumpet their arrival by means of crying. The crying doesn’t stop with just crying their heart out to announce their arrivals, but the crying happens to be the weapon used by babies to communicate their needs. To go a step further, and to dig out wise messages uttered by grandmothers, the child cries as a means to provide exercise to their lungs. Though reasons have been lavished to elucidate causes for the newborn’s crying, first-time parents still are rankled with the same question. The question asked by many parents isn’t an indecipherable secret as it reads as: Why my baby is crying?

As in the case of a newborn, at times when the baby doesn’t cry, it is generally accepted that the baby is not in need of anything. As when the baby sleeps, or when the baby is awake, silence on the part of the baby usually is a sign of contentment. But when the baby feels the need for something, he is no longer in the world of contentment as he is sure to intimate his needs to the parents by his only weapon, and the weapon indisputably being crying!

As the parent starts getting accustomed to the crying spells of the baby, the answer to the question, ‘why my baby is crying?’ becomes clearer, as the different cries of the babies may mean that the baby is in need of different things. The rhythmic, steady crying, peaking every other second may indicate that the infant cries out of hunger, and an intense and a louder spell of crying by the infant which might extend up to five seconds, and which also comes along with spells of silences, wherein the child’s lungs get refilled, may be a pointer to indicate the pain, or to indicate that the baby might have got hurt owing to many reasons.

It is the parents who will have to find answers to the different crying spells of babies, as the possibilities can easily be fathomed, and as they are not of innumerable types. When a baby is crying, he is communicating to convey his needs or his concerns, as it could be due to tiredness, hunger, and feeling of discomfort due to gas, diapers, cold, injury, diaper rashes, or feeling bored or lonely, or even to express his anger.

Some infants also cry without any reason being attached to it, but these insignificant crying spells could also result from the limited ability of the baby to communicate, as well as due to the inability of the parents to understand these crying spells.

Until such time when the baby is not in a position to anticipate his needs, crying of babies cannot and should not be ignored, as the baby by means of a crying spell is alerting the parent of its pressing as well as its immediate needs. Some parents thrive in the opinion that responding to the cries of babies immediately is going to spoil the baby, as the baby might develop the habit of asking for more as and when it realizes that her cries get immediate attention.

But this is far from the truth, as the immediate response shown to the cries of the babies is only going to strengthen the notion of the baby about being successful in communicating her needs through crying spells. This also has long-term benefits, as the baby will develop into an outgoing personality and will also nurture good communication skills.

So, it is better to fathom the reason for the crying of a baby and to provide proper comfort as deemed best to the situation. The sooner you understand the needs of the infant as when it is crying, better it is for you and the infant, as the newborn becomes hale and hearty.

The quintessential need during the crying spells of babies is to remain calm, as getting frustrated, panicking and bursting out in anger is not going to help you understand the needs of the baby as when it is crying. Remain calm and cool as you will be able to answer your own question, and that is why my baby is crying?

Baby Crying Secrets

Cry baby is an expression that gets used to describe a person who grumbles persistently, but baby crying is something different, as babies in reality cry from one to three hours a day, when they are just new borns, as is the truth with regards to baby crying.

Parents, most in number though, remain unprepared to cope up with the crying stints of the child, as the crying of the babies even extend up to three hours during a day.

A baby without crying is like a lamb without bleating. As it happens, babies communicate their needs by crying, and the first year of the baby’s life is punctuated with crying. Another school of thought also believes that baby crying results from the arrival of the newborn baby into a world exasperatingly alien to its perceivable senses.

During the first five weeks, the infant cries at regular intervals and the crying assumes a more purposeful tone when the infant has got past 3 months of survival, and at a much lesser degree. Also a parent relatively new, might for some reason, be not sure of the crying language of the baby as the parent wouldn’t be able to fathom the reason behind the crying of the baby. Such occasions demand sharpness of instincts pertaining to parents, as the parent might be driven to fix an appointment with a Pediatrician, as it becomes a way of reassurance even if the crying baby happens to be absolutely normal.

Baby crying results from various reasons, as when the baby might be hungry, tired, and ill, weary of the environment, or when the infant wants to burp, or even when they get wet.

A parent might at times feel bemused when an infant doesn’t stop crying after the soothing, cuddling and the feeding tactics have been pampered on the baby, as inconsolable crying may also result from colic. But as time flies away the parent begins to understand the crying patterns of the baby and does well to meet the needs of the baby. When the crying sound of baby is very different from the normal way of crying it could be due illness or colic, and at such times it is deemed essential to seek the advice of your doctor. The doctor in turn will have to be furnished with the details of the routine related to the baby – which is about his crying, sleeping, eating, and about bowel movements patterns so as to enable the doctor to provide the best diagnosis.

A crying baby can also be pacified by way of feeding, and rubbing the baby’s back, its stomach, rocking the baby by means of your arms, distracting the attention of the baby by displaying objects that are bright colored or by means of some noise, getting the baby swaddled in a blanket, as these methods often work wonders and these activities are invariably known to pacify the crying baby. The pacifier will have to be avoided until the time breastfeeding gets established, say within the period that extends up to four weeks.

Babies also differ in being comforted, as some babies stop crying when the baby gets swaddled, some while being rocked, and some babies even stop crying when a mellifluous tune is hummed, or while taken on a short walking stint. Baby crying is common, and the parent will have to understand the baby better and will have to opt for methods, that would better suit in soothing the infant, as when it starts to cry.
